Love... Art in the bathroom

I like the idea of having art in the bathroom. No reason why this most used room should be drab, boring and humdrum. In these photos, you see framed art, oils, photos. Are these just for effect or are they practical too? What effect does steam or humidity have on the frames and indeed, their contents? Do paintings survive well in the damp?

One solution would be to use cheap frames and insert botanical prints or other inexpensive photos /pictures from magazines or calendars that you can change on a regular basis. A set of decorative plates would be another great idea - you wouldn't have to worry about damage from damp here.
