Emersonmade in India

I have long been a fan of Emersonmade. I love their quirky photos, elegant clothes and impeccable styling. These images are from a recent trip to India and I think she looks so gorgeous in these colours and fabrics. Great photography, too.

I like the idea of having henna on just the finger-tips rather than the whole hand.

A tux with a kurta (tunic) and skinny jeans. Looks great on her. Not sure if I’d be able to carry off the combination!

{Photographer} Brie Williams

I was quite taken by the work of photographer Brie Williams, when I spotted some of these images on the DesiretoInspire blog recently. Every one of these rooms has given me ideas for our home. These are such simple spaces, but elegant and inviting. Lots of little lessons to be learned here – in terms of colour, styling and art. You can browse the rest of Brie’s terrific portfolio here.

Blom House, Copenhagen

I was browsing through photographer Richard Powers’ fantastic portfolio when I came across this lovely home in Copenhagen. Every photo has lots of things for the eye to admire and many ideas to copy. What do you think of the super-sized Gandhi artwork in the dining room?

I absolutely loved this gold wallpaper in this powder-room. What an elegant choice! It goes really well with the mirror and lights too.

Stockholm StreetStyle

It was The Sartorialist that first got me hooked on street photography. I love his way at looking at ‘regular’ people and the way they dress. Then, I found the absolutely lovely (and very funny) Garance Dore. Quite a team, that Scott and Garance. They inspired me so much that I’ve always got our SLR in hand whenever I’m keeping on eye on my busily-crawling-baby in our mile-long (well, almost) verandah. I have got some nice people shots, but it is not really street photography. I think I’ve got to get out into the street for that!

Anyway. I’ve just discovered Stockholm Street Style and it is really quite nice. The images are large and they feature an eclectic blend of lovely people. I really like this image. Isn’t that little girl cute?

Inspired by My Marrakesh

One of my all-time favorite blogs is My Marrakesh. Each post is beautifully illustrated with lovely photographs and makes a return visit well worth it. I was inspired by one of my favorite posts (on Yemeni tribal jewelry) to try taking similar pictures using my own silver jewelry. I borrowed Mr. R's DSLR and added a macro filter. I'm not sure what equipment Maryam uses; I'd love to know.
