Lonny May 2012

I confess I spent most of my afternoon yesterday browsing through the latest issue of Lonny. What a spread! This issue is spectacular for its colour and focus on Morocco. Most of us are familiar with Maryam Montague of the very popular blog My Marrakesh. It was a delight to see her in not one, but two features in the magazine. Peacock Pavilions (her home and boutique hotel) is such an amazing place, so well put together. There are several other familiar faces in the magazine, including Jamie of the I Suwannee blog (the first decor blog I bookmarked and obsessed over, for her collection of bookshelf images).

My favourite home in this issue, though, was that of interior designer and shop owner Christy Ford. What an elegant home. And she has kids too :)

If you haven’t read this issue yet, go clear your desk, grab a cup of chai (or something cool) and read, read, read. This is an issue I’d have love to see in print.

US magazines - recommend some to me

A friend is visiting us from the US next month and has kindly volunteered to get me a few magazines if I should want them. I'll probably not get another chance like this in the near future, so please help me out here! What do you recommend - decor, travel, women's mags...?

Still missing Domino magazine?

Here’s good news for all those who wept when Domino closed down – the magazine’s archives are now available on the Brides.com website and you can go back and take a look at all the stylish, elegant interiors that made Domino a household name everywhere.

With online magazines becoming more popular, perhaps it will be only a matter of time before Conde Nast revives Domino as an online magazine. They could even make part of the magazine subscriber-only to recover some of their costs – would you pay to subscribe to Domino?

Another online mag is here: By Fryd

This seems to be the week of new launches! I discovered 1 By Fryd via MadebyGirl and it is such a stylishly put together magazine. Lots of beautiful photographs, as you would expect. The English version will be out soon.

I’m enjoying browsing through the Fryd + Design blog as well – lots of lovely posts and short text, almost poetry.

I can’t post any photos without permission, so hop on over and take a look at the blog and magazine for yourself.

Sweet Paul magazine is out!

After Lonny, it was only a matter of time before we were lucky enough to get another great digital mag – and here it is now! I’m browsing through the first issue and it is gorgeous. Lots of lovely photos, interviews and crafts to browse through. Go on, take a look for yourself!

BBC Good Homes rescued

The Guardian reports that BBC Good Homes magazine was saved in the nick of time after being sold to Kelsey Publishing. Phew.

BBC Good Homes does a Domino

The latest Gorkana newsletter informs me that BBC Good Homes magazine is to cease publication from July 2009. This is really so sad. I picked up the May issue of the Indian edition and I wasn't too impressed with it. It looked so...advertorial. There was none of the freshness and creativity that I've come to expect from my favorite shelter magazines.

Will this affect all editions of the magazine?
