Invisible Wiring

Pictures like these in decor mags are meant to be there for inspiration. They are there for the rest of us to study, admire and take away a nugget or two of inspired design.

Take, for instance, this photograph of a country home office that could easily be adapted elsewhere. You could easily do the little table in a room, a niche artfully decorated with plates, some books, a buddha or a small piece of artwork. A plant in the corner and botanical prints on the wall and voila! it is done.

But.

How do you get that lamp on the table to work? Where is the wiring? Where is the switch or the plug point?

Perhaps the lamp is there just for styling purposes, to show us how things could look. Or maybe there’s a secret to invisible wiring that I haven’t cottoned on to yet.

Here are a few more images with more of those invisible wires. If you know something I don’t, do tell.
