One of the reasons I (and a lot of other people) like Goa is because it looks somewhat like this. (The photo is from Paraty, Costa Verde, Brazil.) Goa is a messier version of the developed world. The houses are pretty, but our pavements are not. There is no thought to how the whole street appears as a cohesive whole – nobody cares about this kind of superfluous appearance, certainly not the government and sadly, not the people. As long as our front door is clear…
I’d like to see clean streets in Goa. I’d like to see beautiful streets in Goa. All it requires is some cleaning and regular maintenance. That’s all. The infrastructure and intrinsic beauty is already there.
