What is the first thing you see in these pictures?

In both these photos, my eye is first drawn to the furniture, the decor, the artwork. What do you see?

Did you notice the exposed wiring?

We live in a house that was built long before electricity came to Goa. As a result, the wiring has always been exposed. Concealing it involves too much expense at the moment, so we’re living with it.

I’m trying to find images such as these as inspiration for our home’s decor – one where we live in harmony with the wiring, incorporating it into our design and working with it, instead of constantly being aware of it and being irritated by it.

If you have images of rooms with exposed wiring, I’d love to see them. Thanks!

my eyes.. went on the bookshelf first.. but then instantly on the wires...

But in the second pic... I didnt notice a thing.. wires?? what wires??

At work.. we've got an open ceiling... its painted black.. and at first you will never notice the ducting... and the wiring of the lights... Its pretty well done...

Then we go to the Moore cafe in Dubai... which also has exposed wires and ceiling.. Its painted purple.. and when you are there.. you cant tell.. you are just soooo struck by the beautiful interiors...

I'll see if I can look up any images for you...exposed wiring is very popular in the "industrial" design/decor trend...a lot of upscale lofts are doing it these days...I'll see what I can dig up.

for your earlier post, the one on magazines....design/decor mags: ElleDecor, Southern living, House Beautiful.

Fashion: Lucky magazine, InStyle (in that order). There are also Vogue and Harpers Bazaar but I find them too far removed from reality...If I see another emaciated model sporting the racoon-eye makeup, I'm going to p^k*

(if possible, see if your friend can score any of the september issues in fashion mags...those are the meatiest ones).

Other good magazines are O (oprah's) and Martha stewart. Go check out the websites for all these magazines, and you can see which ones suit your taste.....

Thank you, Patricia and GB for your comments. Pat, I tried looking for pics of the Moore cafe, but nothing good so far. Do you have any?

GB, have you seen Veranda magazine? Heard so much about it and love the pics I've seen so far.
