Minoru Yamasaki

You know his most iconic work (The Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre) but Architect Minoru Yamasaki’s legacy goes much beyond those two buildings. A second generation Japanese-American, Yamasaki had a Masters Degree in Architecture and worked with some of New York’s best firms before going solo. His designs made him one of the best-known architects of the 20th century. He was especially inspired by Gothic architecture and narrow windows (apparently stemming from his own fear of heights).Today (December 1) is Yamasaki’s 100th birth anniversary. Here’s a small glimpse into this man’s magnificent work.
